Albany, New York

The state capital of New York is Albany which is found on the east side of the Hudson River approximately 145 miles north of the New York City Limit. Its population is comprised 63% caucasian, 28% African-american, 5% Latino and 4% of other races. The ethnic diversity is rather small when compared with other cities such as New York or Boston, and sadly, lacks the culture and charm of other such cities.

Albany has many basketball teams and many of the college teams play in the NCAA division. There are many institutes for college or university degrees with the largest being the University at Albany, formally called the State University at Albany. In 2004, Albany was ranked the #1 university for partying in the United States. The greek god Minerva is pictured on the University Seal and the official colours are purple and gold.

Albany lies at the state average for home costs at around $204,000 and up. One can expect to pay upwards of $400,000 for a nicer home. Albany is a great business town and suited for those who find the bustle of New York City too hectic.
